A Deep Dive into AI Uses, Safety, and the Future
with Seth Woodman
$10
This four-week course invites senior learners to explore artificial intelligence with curiosity, clarity, and confidence. Participants will learn what AI is (and isn’t), see everyday examples such as voice assistants, image generators, and writing tools, and discuss how AI is already shaping daily life. The class emphasizes safe and ethical use, including privacy, misinformation, and bias. Through guided discussion and hands-on demonstrations, students will gain practical skills for using AI thoughtfully while also examining future possibilities and challenges. No technical background required—just curiosity and a willingness to learn. Instructor: Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity and Computer Science, Seth Woodman, has taught many classes for SAGE and he does an amazing job making them understandable by novice users of the computer. A new instructor will be joining him. For this class, we welcome Mr. Reed Nonken, an Associate Professor of Business at UMPI, bringing more than 18 years of teaching experience in business and criminal justice. Before transitioning to higher education, Mr. Nonken held senior leadership positions in information technology, operations, and supply chain management with multinational organizations in aerospace, biotechnology, retail, and manufacturing. His career highlights include leading enterprise system implementations, global operational improvements, and cost-reduction programs.
