“Lunch and Learn” is a monthly one-hour Zoom series of speakers presenting on a variety of topics including USA Flag Etiquette, history of the Aroostook Research Farm, and the experiences of several WW II soldiers from Central Aroostook County who were killed action.  Coming up are:

January 18 Castlebay will be with us to share their love for sea shanties and other folk music about Maine and the sea.

February 15th Two Municipal Clerks will speak about elections and how they are run – City of Belfast and Town of Perham.  Belfast is one of the few communities in Maine with more than one polling site.   The State and Municipal Clerks will be overseeing three elections during 2024. March 5, 2024 - Presidential Primary, June 11, 2024 - State Primary Election, November 5, 2024 - Presidential General Election

March 21st - Mary Jo Badger, a volunteer for the Educaton and Planetarium Programs at the Francis Malcolm Science Center in Easton, will speak about the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse. She will also tell us about the program scheduled for the Science Center on the 8th to help participants get the most out of the experience.  

April 18 - Jenn Deschene, Community Engagement Manager with University Credit Union (UCU) will host an informal seminar on how to protect yourself from scams that are targeting your personal and financial information.  Topics will include scams that are being seen in the banking industry each and every day.   Learn how to not be a victim of scams that are currently trending in our community. The presenter is Jenn Deschene, Community Engagement Manager with University Credit Union has worked in the financial services industry for 23 years.

 May16 – The topic is partly a book review of "Acadian Hard Times" which was published in 1991.  This book describes the efforts of the Farm Security Agency to assist the rural residents in the St. John Valley during the later years of the Great Depression.  The presenter is Steve Freeman, a retired Professional Engineer, who considers Franklin Roosevelt as one of the three greatest American Presidents, only after George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
